Founder Tim Fancher's Background
Timothy J. Fancher, MAPT, BA, AS
Tim Fancher is a seasoned protector, educator, and speaker with over 40 years of experience in martial arts, law enforcement, and practical theology. He is the founder of American Street Edge Self Defense Systems, creator of RUN FIGHT SURVIVE Active Shooter Training, and founder of Psalm 144 Church Security Seminars.
Martial Arts and Self Defense Expertise
Tim is a 4th Degree Black Belt in American Kenpo Karate, training since September 1989. He is a 2nd Generation Black Belt training under the lineage of Senior Grandmaster Edmund K. Parker. He also holds a 1st Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do (1988) and has cross trained in Judo, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, and Pressure Point Control Tactics. A professional street self defense instructor since 1999, he is known for his direct and reality based approach to personal protection.
Law Enforcement and Security Background
Tim served as a police officer and later worked as a licensed private investigator in the state of Missouri. He is a certified Trauma Informed Active Shooter Instructor through ALICE Training Systems. His expertise includes street safety awareness, women’s self defense, children’s abduction prevention, church security, and personal protection.

National Impact and Training
Since 2001, Tim has been a keynote speaker and trainer at churches, universities, businesses, and conferences in multiple states. He has presented Psalm 144 Church Protection Seminars and active shooter training to numerous churches and organizations. His work on church security has been nationally published 14 times in magazines such as Worship Facilities, SSI Magazine, and Today’s Pastor.
He is a recognized voice on real world protection, trauma informed training, fear and anxiety management, and building quiet confidence in difficult environments. His approach combines street level realism with practical theology, helping people develop both physical skills and inner strength.
Tim continues to teach through American Street Edge, mentoring individuals and families who need serious guidance, discipline, and character development in today’s increasingly chaotic world.
